Carribbean Escape 2005

Caribbean Escape 2005

The Caribbean Escape 2005 - Summit at The Westin St. John, took place on the island of St. John - United States Virgin Islands, and included excursions on 3 surrounding islands (St. Thomas USVI; plus Jost van Dyke and Norman Island, both British Virgin Islands).

Whether you were seeking adventure and exploration, fun in the sun and surf, or rest and relaxation, you would have easily found something that matched your mood.

Recap

Rum Punch sir, is the first thing to be heard after landing on the island of St. Thomas. A short taxi ride drops FLOWInsiders off at the port where a private ferry awaits to take them to the island of St. John. Rum Punch sir, rings again as they land at the unbelievably beautiful, Westin Resort on the Island of St. John. Where are our bags, one Insider ask. Sir, you're on vacation, we will deliver them directly to your room. The response, That's what I'm talking about. And so the vacation begins...

The week is filled with trips to beautiful white sandy beaches, snorkeling, pool parties, shopping, sight seeing, excursion to other islands and most of all relaxation. The week is made complete with a white linen party that begins in a private Villa but ends on the beach. The hardest thing Insiders will have to do is pack all of the new items they have acquired to make the track back to reality.

Testimonials

"I had a wonderful time at Carribbean Escapes 2005. I was looking for a vacation, I found an experience. Although the islands and weather were great, and the views memorable, it was the people I met on this trip that made the difference. From the time I set foot on St. John, until the time we all waved goodbye, it was non-stop laughs, tall tales, and camaraderie. I had grown tired of the overcrowded, overhyped, "normal" getaways like cancun, miami and assorted cruises and festivals. What I found in Carribbean Escapes was relaxation for the body, a pace of life that cleared the mind and wonderful vistas that cleansed the soul. I have been back a little over a week and I'm still going through withdrawal..."
--Cylton Karl Collymore (Washington, DC)

"The 2005 Caribbean Escape was an experience that I will never forget. The Westin Resort on St. John is a beautiful island resort. I was truly moved when I saw all the sailboats captained by member of the “Black Boaters Summit”. I can’t wait until next year."
--Stacey (Pasadena, CA)

"Initially I was hesitant to attend the Caribbean Escape by myself......but after enjoying the island beaches, tours and especially meeting so many great people, it was worth the trip. I recommend this trip next year to any single person wanting to have a great time and meeting new friends"
--Ivan (Crofton, MD)

"The Caribbean Escape was just that, An amazing escape from my norm that. This took me to a place that I thoroughly enjoyed mentally and physically the entire time. The Islands were so peaceful and relaxing, the water so blue. the people were so alive, friendly and FUN; Spontaneous dancing in the street, late night swimming. I met people that I feel that I will stay in contact with from now on. Mentally, I am still there. I’ll be the first on the list for next year."
--Ureena Hoskins(Alameda CA)

"I still cant stop thinking back on the experience I had and the great people I met on the Caribbean Escape. The islands and beaches were amazing it was so nice to see beautiful blue water, green mountains and many smiling African American faces. The mood of the week was fun, everyone got along and we all just enjoyed ourselves. I have never met so many great people and made so many friends at one gathering. It was nice to see everyone enjoying the islands, enjoying the food, drinks and just having fun. Some of the local's where pretty nice too... (smile). I look forward to growing friendships with the people I met and I look forward to seeing everyone next year at the 2nd Annual Caribbean Escape because I will be there!!"
--Robee Pilgrim (San Jose, CA)

"If you want to enjoy the surroundings of fun in the sun with some of the coolest African American urban professions from various location in the U.S. of A. then come to St. Johns to party in 2006. Explore the beautiful Islands by day and party by night. Explore slave ruins on a historical tour of St. John's and the hospitality of the locals who make you feel like you are part of their family (which really we all share the same roots). There were many highlights for me from the 2005 trip, I met some outstanding people, friendships/networking; especially enjoyed Foxy's (it is said its the 4th place in the world to be on New Years eve) on the island of Jost van Dyke for dinner and dancing in which I will always remember the electric slide done down the road from Foxy's by about 20 beautiful Black women, in which a dance party broke out with the locals, then there was the soultrain line that more beautiful Black people got going outside of Woodys with some of the locals, and it was such a blast that folks from Woodys (local rock bar) came out to party with us on the street corner (yes I said the street corner). The villa pool parties where people continued to mingle and network past 2am. The atmosphere and people will remain an unforgettable experience for me that I will want to repeat on a yearly basis, I found it to be very therapeutic."
