Bowie, Md., December 7, 2007 – The Remedy for Living luxury furniture boutique kicks off its holiday season with an exhibit by the visionary and explorative artist, Sofalé, entitled, Reflections, Spirited Woman Revealed. Sofalé will be joined by her mother—painter, Phyllis Ellis. Ms. Ellis will also be exhibiting some of her recent works. The exhibit takes place 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 and 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, and will feature an eclectic mix of Sofalé's innovative and bold creations.

"In showcasing Sofalé's works, our goals are to highlight the variety and stylistic pluralism of art in relation to interior design and to create dialogue among our store's clients about the artist's use of color and its role in defining space," said The Remedy for Living co-owner, Princess Mhoon Cooper. "As a resident designer, Sofalé is particularly good at infusing her art with the style and functionality of our furniture and accessories, which we believe to be an important element of our mantra."

Sofalé's creations are a unique combination of mediums, incorporating three-dimensionality with bold vibrant colors and embellished body casts, using natural stones and crystals. The content of her works are primarily mixed- media paintings with layers of subliminal images. Sofalé's approach of breaking away from the "norm" is to compose art with rich textures and invigorating colors, further enhancing the depth of her work.

"We all have a story to tell," said Sofalé. "We all play a role in the lives of those around us. If we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, there is a great possibility that in return we may help someone else. The expression of art is a therapeutic release, not only for the artist but those viewing the art. It is my desire to touch others through the beauty and grace of art."

A graduate of Howard University's School of Fine Art, Sofalé has exhibited her works around the country for the past 15 years. In addition to creating art and providing interior design services, she also conducts art therapy workshops for non-profit organizations such as Martha's Table, the Rape Crisis Center and various senior citizen homes throughout the Washington metropolitan area.
